These chairs were rescued from the nature strips around Melbourne and given a second life. Stencilled with the words ‘Please take your seat’ and installed at the Edge for Arup’s Penguin Pool event, their value was reassigned. They became a breakaway event at the back of the auditorium, and at the end of the evening they all found new homes. Some chairs prompted a further disruptions when they were hauled onto public transport by their new owners.

Why don’t I act my age?
Smith Street, St Kilda
When I pointed out to the man who was berating me for vandalism that there was nothing illegal about stencilling a discarded couch – he shouted – ‘Why don’t you act your age’.
Having just produced a book ‘As long as it lasts’ (M.33, 2014) and mounted a photographic exhibition of nearly a decade’s work – I’m having a break to work on other projects. Not sure if it will age appropriate though.
