About this blog

This blog records marks on the urban landscape in St Kilda. It also collects stories and images lost and found. The work invites the viewer to look beyond the architecture, people, cars and landscape and speculate on the traces of life left on the streets.

Writing in public space (formerly City Traces) is my other blog that extends the idea that these urban traces provide clues for deciphering the narratives of the cultural terrain. —

Depends on how you look at it

J was just finishing the last letters in the spiral when she heard a voice say, “that’s a bit pessimistic, it should be the other way”, a cheery looking woman commented. “Spirals can go up too you know”.
